Veestro: plant based meals

Veestro is the second food delivery service that I am reviewing as part of my plant based blog series. They deliver preservative-free, organic, plant-based meals to your doorstep. Overall, I was impressed with the simplicity of the process. Orders are placed online and shipped in boxes packed with dry ice.

Veestro’s Plantifesto reads:

“Delicious is at the root of all we do. We always put our best flavor forward.

We’re in the business of delivering happiness to busy people.

We believe busy people deserve it all: flavorful, healthy, easy, fast.

We believe plants are the greatest food on earth.

We believe you shouldn’t have to eat anything you don’t love. Or that doesn’t love you back.

We believe you get out of life what you put in. Ingredients matter.

We believe in hand-picking. And being really picky about it.

We believe grabbing dinner doesn’t have to mean grabbing junk.

We believe eating healthy can be as easy as showing up. On your doorstep. To put a smile on your face.

We’re here to please. With plants”

The box I received included ten items priced at 11.70. Several packages are available as part of the A La Carte menu

10 meals at $11.70 per meal

20 meals at $10.80 per meal

30 meals at $9.90 per meal

Overall my favorite items from the selection included the Pasta Bolognese, the Ultimate Veggie Wrap and the Paella Valenciana. When it comes to quality and flavor the meals seem to be a hit or miss. The Country Fried Chick’n vegetables were bland and tasted like freezer burn, additionally I felt like I needed to add extra vegetables and seasoning to some items, in particular the Chick’n Quesadilla.

When it comes to reviewing a gifted brand or service I always like to let you guys know if I would purchase this item for myself in the future. Personally I would consider trying their frozen juice line but I would not repurchase their meals. I found some of them to be blander than expected for the price-point they are selling for. I could see these being convenient for grabbing on the go for work, but in my opinion I have had better quality vegan meals from the grocery store.

Trader Joe’s has a nice selection of vegan meal items, my favorites are their Jackfruit Vegan Curry frozen meals and Vegan Tikka Masala.
